Even when all the preparation in the world has been done and I've taken numerous shots (the joy of digital) I still end up with a card full of shots I'm not happy with. It can be a very frustrating occupation some days. Some days it works and some days it doesn't.
On the other hand sometimes an opportunity presents itself when you least expect it, you take a quick snapshot and viola, you have a great picture. It's great, but also somewhat annoying when this happens.

One such example of an opportunity is this photo. I think it looks quite a well set up shot. Nice, clean, black background, interesting pink foreground and lovely fresh daisy. The camera can lie though. The story behind this picture is one of love and kindness of a small boy to his expectant mum. My son brought me this daisy that he picked in the garden of my sister one day that we were visiting. I was 8.5 months pregnant with my daughter at the time and basically adopting classic "beached whale" pose on a comfy chair. I rested the daisy on my, rather large, tummy, drew my legs up (clothed in black trousers) to create a backdrop and took a few photos with my 60mm fixed macro lens. This was the best of the bunch and one of my favourite pictures. Not only the subject and quality of the picture, but the story behind it.
Moral of the story, always have your camera, wherever you go. You never know when an opportunity will arise.
This photo is available as a greetings card as well as a mounted or framed 10x8" print. Please contact me at wendy@mayflowerphotography.co.uk if you are interested in purchasing this picture. Other sized prints may be available on request.
